[Announcement from the Korea University Office of Digital Information]

To ensure the safe use of the University’s email service and strengthen account security, please refer to the information below.

1. Mandatory Naverworks Two-Factor Authentication Setup

Recently, there has been an increase in hacking attempts targeting Naverworks accounts with vulnerable passwords or accounts that have remained unused for an extended period, as well as cases of spam emails being sent using school email accounts.

As a result, numerous reports and complaints have been received from external organizations.

Beginning Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the University will require the setup of two-factor authentication(2FA) and will strengthen security settings across all accounts.

To ensure the safe use of the email service, we kindly ask for your cooperation in strengthening your personal security settings, including setting up 2FA methods and regularly using complex passwords.

[Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication(2FA)]

  1) Access Naverworks and click Settings (gear icon) in the upper-right corner.

  2) Go to [Security] - [Two-Factor Authentication] and enable the feature.

  3) Click [Set Up Authentication Method] to add an authentication method.

(Register a personal email address / phone number)

[Important Notes]

  - If a personal email address or phone number has been registered to your Naverworks account,
initial authentication may be completed using the registered information.

(However, authentication will not be available if the information is incorrect or only partially registered.)

  - Two-factor authentication is required when reconnecting after the session timeout period of 2 hours.

※ Users who have already registered for 2FA methods do not need to take any additional action.

Please note that if you do not set up 2FA method using your personal email address or mobile phone by June 23, you may be blocked from logging in to your Naverworks email or experience inconvenience when using the service.

2. Notice on Transition to Google Mail

As previously announced, Naverworks service will be discontinued in August 2027 due to changes in service operation policy, including excessive usage fee impositions.

In this regard, the Digital Information Office is preparing to transition enrolled students to the Google Mail system starting in August 2026.

(Details regarding the transition schedule and procedures will be announced separately later)
